Description
Dr. Wei Li’s laboratory at Department of Ophthalmology, Cullen Eye Institute, Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a talented and motivated Postdoctoral Associate. Our translational research focuses on drug target discovery and novel therapy development to treat ocular vascular diseases, including diabetic retinopathy, wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and retinopathy of prematurity.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Performs experiments involving molecular biology, phage display, cell biology, protein expression and purification, protein-protein interaction, immunohistochemistry and in vivo gene therapy.
- Knowledge of ophthalmology and experience in ophthalmic or animal surgery skills are not necessary but a plus.
- Performs basic animal research, including injections, in vivo analyses, etc.
- Manages mice colony to include husbandry, etc.
- Writes manuscripts and postdoctoral fellowship applications
- Organizes lab, reviews inventory and orders supplies.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- It is preferred that candidates demonstrate scientific productivity with peer-reviewed publications and strong commitment to scientific research.
- Recipients of recent PhD or MD degree are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Applicants with experience in molecular biology, cell biology, protein biochemistry and/or gene therapy are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
