Gritstone Bio is a public, next-generation personalized cancer and infectious immunotherapy company. Gritstone brings together distinguished scientific founders, an experienced and diverse management team, a seasoned and successful board of directors to tackle fundamental challenges at the intersection of cancer genomics, immunology, and immunotherapy design. The company’s goal is to identify and deploy neoantigens for novel treatments of cancer and infectious diseases. In addition to neoantigen therapy development, Gritstone is leveraging its unique antigen discovery platform to define targets for shared antigen immunotherapies, which would provide an opportunity to treat even more patients.
This position is a rare opportunity for a motivated individual looking to develop, learn and apply computational skills to understand biological questions. This individual will support the design and implementation of novel approaches to interpret biological data in the context of cancer and infectious diseases. As part of the Bioinformatics and Data Science team, this individual will work closely with other computational biologists and data scientists to help analyze clinical data and help further innovate our vaccine platform This individual will have strong analytical and problem solving skills, will be great team player, and have excitement for learning new skills.
Specific responsibilities
  • Support the design, development and application of bioinformatics and data science tools for research and development.
  • Process and analyze large biological datasets.
  • Support data processing of clinical data following GxP guidelines.
  • Support software development and data management.
  • Effectively communicate methods and findings to a multi-disciplinary audience.
Minimum Education/Experience
  • B.S. or M.S. level of experience in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, or related.
  • Demonstrated proficiency of programming and scripting skills in Python and Nextflow.
  • Experience with biological datasets and databases (e.g. TCGA, GEO, GTEX).
  • Experience with bioinformatics pipelines, machine learning, and statistical analysis.
  • Familiar with AWS cloud-based services is a strong plus.
  • Routine use of version control such as git.

Qualifications 

  • Knowledge of cancer and infectious disease biology is a strong plus.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and work in an evolving environment.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent presentation and written/verbal communication skills.
