The Medical Scientific Operations Lead is a people leader and a member of the Strategy, Operations, and Excellence team in the Medical and Scientific Affairs (MSA) division. They play a key enabling role and will work closely with diverse stakeholders across MSA and the broader RDC organization to support the delivery of medical tactics with efficiency and excellence.

They provide the structure and support to the MSA division by leading a team of Medical Scientific Associates accountable for:

  • the harmonization, optimization, and training of systems, processes and tools.
  • enabling the execution of strategic medical plans efficiently and compliantly.
  • development of medical and scientific content and operational/logistics support for medical tactics including but not limited to advisory boards, education, contracting, internal/external communications.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

​Personnel Management

  • Ensure team members have the relevant medical or scientific background, knowledge/expertise and all relevant training for their roles.
  • Recruit, hire, train and provide continuous coaching and feedback necessary to develop a high-performance team which may include people in multiple locations.
  • Creation of an inspiring team environment with an agile, open and inclusive culture.
  • Plays a leadership role in contributing towards a positive department culture and capability building of MSA colleagues.
  • Proactively seeks opportunity to provide feedback and guidance on career & capability development.

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in life sciences with 7+ years experience (medical affairs or operations). OR
  • Masters degree in science with 5+ years experience (medical affairs or operations). OR
  • Doctorate level degree in science with 2+ years experience (medical affairs or operations).
  • 2+ years proven track record of successful people leadership and development.

Additional preferred qualifications

  • Candidate with diverse medical affairs experience is preferred (i.e strategy, field and/or operations).
  • Strong understanding and diverse experience with medical strategic planning and tactical execution is required.
  • Proven ability to inspire and motivate teams to create impact and deliver their best every day, previous people leadership/management experience an asset.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with process improvement and project management.
  • Ability to translate and communicate scientific data into relevant medical information for diverse external and internal stakeholder audience.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and teams to support and enable operational excellence and problem solving across a matrixed organization.
  • Strong customer-focus and passion and sense of urgency.
  • Strong organization and time management skills enabling management of multiple tasks and projects. Able to identify and solve problems autonomously.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the US diagnostics compliance and healthcare regulatory standards.
