Description
Assigns accurate diagnosis and procedure codes and captures pertinent clinical data elements on all inpatient/outpatient medical records of discharged patients. Responsible for ensuring optimum reimbursement based on accurate coding and for maintaining a quality patient clinical database.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Certification/Licenses
- CPC, CPC-H, CCS, RHIT, RHIA credentials required at time of hire. Credential must be maintained.
Skills
- Computer and data entry skills, ample understanding of ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT-4 classification systems.
Experience
- Two years coding experience, while certified, coding in an acute care facility.
Nature of Supervision
- Responsible to: Manager, Health Information Services.
