Provides leadership and direction to the Medical Imaging Access Center and serves as a liaison to our revenue cycle, financial clearance, and digital health colleagues as it relates to Medical Imaging.  Oversees day-to-day Access Center responsibilities and assists with strategic initiatives tied to Medical Imaging scheduling and digital health at all campus and satellite locations. Plans, organizes and directs teams to accomplish departmental goals and meet customer needs. Actively supports departmental and organizational goals by modeling appropriate behaviors and fostering a healthy, inclusive and diverse work environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Structures the environment and provides resources to ensure strong performance and accountability within all designated areas of responsibility. Provides administrative leadership and direction for direct reports.
  • Accountable for achievement of strategic outcomes; collaborates in performance improvement efforts; assures access to comprehensive, timely and appropriate care in accordance with department and industry standards.
  • Utilizes understanding of the electronic medical record (EMR), modality and departmental knowledge necessary to promote excellence in medical imaging access; develops and implements systems that ensure standardization and optimization of scheduling workflows; identifies, develops and monitors progress toward achievement of both individual, departmental and corporate goals and objectives; serves as a leader and guide in the project management and process improvement processes.
  • Participates in operational planning processes; plans and facilitates clear, consistent and effective communication to assure optimum flow of information; develops, implements and evaluates the effectiveness of scheduling processes within all modalities of responsibility and, as applicable, throughout the organization.
  • Leads and facilitates quality improvement initiatives for designated areas of responsibility and, as applicable, throughout the organization; plans and implements system changes that enhance scheduling performance and imaging access; institutes changes based upon best practices and organizational alignment.
  • Leads and manages people resources. Responsible for the selection and ongoing development of all staff within designated areas of responsibility; assures competency of staff in collaboration with administrative and operational leadership. Provides educational and professional development opportunities; identifies opportunities for interdisciplinary teams and oversees their development. Encourages professional growth and development amongst staff.
  • Pursues professional opportunities and networks which enhance own professional knowledge and advancement as well as excellence within medical imaging. Guides and mentors others to do the same.
  • Facilitates collaborative partnerships with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to ensure that patient needs are met.
  • The authority to hire, separate, promote, demote, write and administer performance evaluations.
  • Other job functions as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 5 years of related access or scheduling experience in hospital/healthcare setting and 3 years of progressive leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of performance data tracking, trending and analysis with the ability to create clear and deliverable action plans usually acquired through progressive leadership experience.
  • Experience working in partnership with health care professionals in leadership roles.
  • Possesses strong leadership skills, ability to lead a team; excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent organizational skills as well as computer skills.
  • Fundamental understanding of budgeting process from creation through monitoring/analyzing of variance; and fundamental understanding of hospital information systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in a collaborative and facilitative style.

Education

Bachelor's Degree (Required).
