Position Summary: Reporting to the President, At-Home Solutions, the VP, Medical Director & Innovation is primarily responsible for all Clinical Innovation and Transformation of the At-Home Solutions business. The business requires a transformation from a products distribution company to a value based clinical service provider to maintain competitiveness. The transformation will be informed by clinical needs of the at-home patient, healthcare economics, competitive strategy, and policy. The role will be responsible for leading all Market Development, Strategic Partnerships, and Innovation initiatives. The VP, Medical Director & Innovation also provides cross-functional clinical/medical support and strategic direction for at-Home Solutions.

As part of a visible, highly impactful team, the VP, Medical Director & Innovation will have demonstrated clinical and business experience in rapidly evolving markets and possess the capability to meaningfully connect with the needs of current and potential customers.  The leader will align with Cardinal Health’s values and be able to communicate complex clinical matters and policy to senior business leaders and non-clinical external stakeholders.

Position Description

Supports development of at-Home Solutions strategic initiatives aligned with business goals.
Direct contributor to at-Home Solutions action planning and strategy development/ implementation for existing network management, new network development and new market expansion.
Serve as a strategist and counselor to the President and business development team; participate in the assessment of strategic acquisitions which close current service offering gaps.
Serves as medical subject matter expert, providing scientific/medical guidance to business initiatives with the lens of the customer experience.

Deep understanding of the clinical landscape and how the evolution of healthcare will impact the delivery of care.
Clear internal/external objective voice of the patient.
Acts as the clinical expert within the market and couples the knowledge with analytics and technology to maximize growth.

Engages thought leaders, investigators, educational and other clinical stakeholders through advisory boards. Supports the process of creation of advisory boards to guide scientific directions in active areas of research. May host clinical advisory panel meetings as needed.
Continuously improves personal knowledge and skills vital to business growth by:

Regularly reviewing the published medical literature in areas of interest to healthcare in the home.
Attending and participation in professional society and industry meetings and conferences.

Experience | Requirements

Medical Doctor (MD) degree required, MBA or MPH preferred
Record of clinical research, specifically in healthcare economics, and successful business development.
5 or more years of clinical/scientific research experience required
Full time employment in pharma/medical device clinical or medical affairs; close, regular consultation to pharma/device for clinical research, regulatory submissions, professional medical education, research and development or equivalent experience

Ideally possesses training in healthcare economics
Member of applicable professional associations with strong physician relationships
Product development experience a strong plus
Must be a strong leader and solid team player capable of working collaboratively with colleagues in all functions
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills for interaction with physicians/customers
Must be able to handle multiple projects/demands
