Summary of Position:
Ferris State University campus health center looking for a licensed physician to collaborate with two clinical Nurse Practitioners providing acute care. The Supervising Physician/Prescriptive Authority position allows for remote work and does not involve direct patient care or clinic hours.

Required Education:
Degree Completion from an accredited college/university program resulting in a Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.

Required Work Experience:
Two (2) or more years of clinical experience in family practice and/or internal medicine and/or public health clinic setting and/or college health setting. Must have experience with electronic medical record system. Experience in providing supervision of mid-level providers and/or nursing staff (M.D., D.O.)

Required Licenses and Certifications:
Current, valid, unrestricted Medical License (M.D., D.O.) to practice in the state of Michigan. Michigan DEA license or eligibility. CPR/ALS certification (active or within 30 days of hire).

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered:
At least 1 year of clinical experience in family practice and/or internal medicine and/or public health clinic setting and/or college health setting working as a medical provider.
Experience in college student health care preferred. Experience in occupational medicine preferred.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Serve as a resource for 2 licensed NPs providing acute care services to campus community, assuring quality and safe care.

Reports directly to the Director of Health Services for Birkam Health & Counseling Centers.

Must be available by phone &/or alternative communication methods during operating hours for consultation and quality care assurance.

Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of information according to HIPAA and FERPA.

Chart review and clinical consultation will allow for oversight and control measures to be maintained.

Will work with Director of Health Services to ensure all areas of supervision are maintained and meet State of Michigan requirements.

Skills and Abilities:
• Proven experience as a physician
• Strong understanding of examination methodologies and diagnostics
• Excellent knowledge of infectious diseases, their symptoms and epidemiology
• Broad knowledge of common medication, side effects and contraindications
• In-depth knowledge of legal medical guidelines and medicine best practices
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Respect for patient’s confidentiality
• Compassionate and approachable
• Responsible and trustworthy
• Doctor of Medicine degree (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) and valid license to practice the profession in the state of Michigan.
