Description

If you are looking for an opportunity to make an impact on engaging pharmaceutical marketing assets that will reach healthcare providers and patients, you have come to the right place.

We need an experienced medical editor who is knowledgeable in deciphering medical and scientific literature, knows AMA style like the back of his/her hand, and isn’t afraid to elevate medical copy with integrity and respect. You must have a proven successful track record of excellence in your field, so we can ensure quality will be achieved at the first pass of every manuscript you see.

Most of your work would be in rare and refractory diseases for branded and unbranded campaigns across a range of deliverables with a focus on websites and emails for HCP and DTC audiences. You will be responsible for providing the full span of editorial services and would be accountable to autonomously manage daily workflow on assigned projects.

You will report to the Director of Medical Editing and Copy in our Digital Experience Design (DXD) practice and collaborate closely with copywriters, account managers, strategists, and project managers on your brands to optimize promotional copy. This is a hybrid role with the expectation to work out of an Epsilon office 2 days a week.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Help create compelling, meaningful, and medically accurate information.
  • Invited to research, prepare, and deliver editing-related presentations to various internal teams.
  • Create and maintain brand-specific style guides and claims documents.
  • Provide a first read copyedit of and final sign-off reviews for assigned projects.
  • Ensure correct grammar, spelling, word choice/usage, appropriate tone/voice, and adherence to current AMA style as well as product and agency style guides.
  • Fact-check using approved references, eg, medical journal articles, PIs.
  • Strong understanding of scientific/medical literature.
  • Edit both digital and print materials for DTC and HCP audiences.
  • Focus on verifying scientific accuracy, audience appropriateness, and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Adhere to internal editorial processes, brand-specific guidelines, and project plans to meet deadlines and ensure quality.
  • Create and maintain editorial style guides and core claims documents on assigned brands.
  • Attend kickoff and status meetings.
  • Become familiar with many brands to work seamlessly across accounts when needed.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as senior medical editor at a pharmaceutical marketing agency with both HCP and DTC proficiency.
  • Experience editing and fact-checking medical/pharmaceutical content.
  • Thorough knowledge of current AMA style.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Expertise in English grammar and spelling.
  • Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
  • Team player who can provide an objective reason for every change you request.
  • Ability to assertively yet kindly defend your changes.

Education and Experience(Preferred)

  • Understanding of FDA guidelines, a plus but not required.
  • Experience using Outlook calendar, Word, Adobe, SharePoint, Teams, and PowerPoint, a plus.
  • Experience using WorkFront, Excel, and Verify preferred.
  • Provide samples of your work and explain the achievement.
  • Earned a BS or BA in writing, editing, and/or any science.
