The Regional Director, Medical Science Liaisons (RDMSL) leads a team of several Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) across North American states and provinces. The RDMSL is accountable and responsible for high quality scientific collaboration, scientific support for customer scholarly activities, data generation, podium presence, and other related activities. The Directors will both manage members of their team and directly participate/own in key activities.
Major Responsibilities
- Increase the number of scientific collaboration sites and partnerships available for data generation activities
- Increase share of voice (SOV) across a region, with emphasis on major conferences
- Support timely, high quality, high value execution of investigator initiated trials within a region
- Support high quality publications originating in a region and related to the Alcon portfolio
- Ensure compliant customer interactions across a region
- Support scholarly customer activities (eg. presentations) across a region
- Ensure timely and complete activity documentation to support department metrics across all associates within a region
- Develop and execute plans, including budget and other resourcing, to support MSL activities across a region
- Maintain high collaboration with other pillars of the North America medical organization in context of MSL activities for a region
- Ensure continuous professional development of MSL team members through training activities, mentorship, and feedback
- Director responsibilities might require 50-80% travel
KPIs
- Achievement of defined KOL interactions goals interactions for MSLs within region
- Achievement of IIT concept submissions and approvals for MSLs within region
- Increased KOL participation in IIT activity as measured by new ECP interactions and IIT concept submissions by new scientific partners
- Fulfillment of published regional research interests
- Efficient management of IITs in region within established timelines
- Timely commitment and effective management of budget assigned to research projects
- Increased Alcon’s scientific share of voice (papers and posters) at major regional Ophthalmology and Optometry meetings (Submitted and accepted abstracts)
- Increased Alcon presence in peer reviewed scientific publications
- Achievement of MSL training and professional development goals for MSL within region

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +18 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; PhD+6 yrs)
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
- 10 Years of Relevant Experience
- 6 Years of Demonstrated Leadership
