Physician USMLE-Style Question Writer
Position Overview:
Contribute to the review, maintenance, and upleveling of Boards & Beyond USMLE-style questions for McGraw Hill Education
Requirements:
- MD, DO or equivalent degree
- Board Certified in internal medicine or family medicine
- At least 1 year of experience writing Step 1 or Step 2 USMLE style questions
- Broad medical content expertise
- Passion for medical education
Preferred:
- Advanced training in USMLE style question writing
- Significant undergraduate medical education and/or clerkship teaching experience
- Course Director or Clerkship Director experience
- Understanding of question evaluation metrics
- Strong question editing skills
Qualities/Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong work ethic in remote work setting
- Thorough understanding of the pedagogy and content of medical education
- Strong time management skills
Responsibilities:
- Author Step 1 and Step 2 USMLE-style questions for Boards & Beyond (B&B) video education series and other McGraw Hill products
- Identify poorly performing USMLE-style B&B questions
- Edit and uplevel poorly performing B&B USMLE-style questions
- Collaborate with student question writer(s) and edit the questions that they create
- Edit and uplevel draft questions from other sources, including artificial intelligence
- Perform regular review of B&B question metrics
- Review and uplevel B&B questions on an ongoing basis with the goal of maintaining 5 to 10 high quality questions per video
Hours & Location:
- Fully remote
- Hours flexible 10-30 hours/week (contracted services)
