Description

Contract Medical Doctor, Behavioral Health

Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah or Remote

This is a contract position for up to 20 hours a week.

General Functions and Outcomes:

  • Conducts case reviews requiring physician involvement and/or provides clinical expertise to others related to behavioral health case management, prior authorizations and appeals.
  • Provides peer-to-peer consultations with providers.  Promotes provider understanding of utilization management and quality improvement policies, procedures and standards.
  • Provides medical advice and oversight for staff to ensure members receive safe, effective and cost efficient services.
  • Provides clinical input on case management, working closely with the Case Management clinical staff, as necessary.
  • Participates on various teams to provide clinical input on medical policy reviews and development.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Psychiatrist with an MD or DO.  Active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in one or more states or territories of the United States.
  • Board Certification form the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology required.
  • At least 5 years of post -residency clinical experience, preferably combination of adults, adolescents and children.
  • In-depth knowledge of best practices related to medical care for a wide variety of behavioral health conditions.
  • Strong analytic and communication skills

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registration, Etc.:

  • Licensed Physician with an MD or DO degree related to behavioral health.  Active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in one or more states or territories of the United States. Board Certification required.
  • Qualification by training and experience to render clinical opinions about medical conditions, procedures, and treatments under review.
