Description
Outpatient Clinicians provide counseling and psychotherapy services to clients of the mental health clinics. These services include assessments; treatment, case documentation, discharge planning, and ordination of care with other care providers, family, and other involved individuals or service providers as appropriate. Clinicians work within the context of a multi-disciplinary team in the clinic.

Essential Functions of Position
- Screen, evaluate, and treat adult clients assigned by the Outpatient Service Director or the Clinic Coordinator. Modalities of treatment include, but are not limited to, psychotherapy/counseling with individuals, groups, couples, and families.
- If assigned, with the assistance of an interpreter facilitate therapy groups with non-English speaking populations (i.e. Vietnamese, Cape Verdean, Haitian, etc.)
- Maintain updated clinical records of an individual or group clients in a timely fashion and as specified by the policies and procedures of the clinic and by standards of regulatory and funding agencies. This includes but is not restricted to a comprehensive initial assessment, Individual Action Plans (treatment plans), progress notes, and discharge summaries when applicable.
- Coordinate treatment with other involved parties as appropriate, i.e. other psychiatric and/or medical treaters (PCP), other service providers, significant client supports, etc.
- Be a participating member of the multi-disciplinary team at the clinic by participating in– if requested by Clinic Director - staff meetings, clinical case reviews, case conferences, etc.
- Attend all training required by Bay Cove Human Services and/or the Clinic.
- Comply with productivity standards as established by the clinic director/agency. A minimum of at least 6.5 billable hours weekly is required for an 8-hour position unless otherwise determined by the clinic director/ agency.
- Maintain professional licensure and professional competency by attending educational and professional activities such as conferences, seminars, training, etc. pertinent to the population served and the clinical work conducted.
- Participate in the clinic’s effort to meet Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) goals and other treatment initiatives.
- Provide coverage for other therapists if needed and assigned to cover by Outpatient Services Director.
Qualifications
- Currently licensed in the State of Massachusetts as a LICSW, LCSW, or LMHC
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills
- Possess competency with time management and organization skills. Ability to be detail-oriented.
- Some proficiency in computer skills. Ability to be proficient in utilizing Electronic Medical Records.
- Preferred experience in working with the severely and persistently mentally ill, the elder, and/or the culturally diverse populations
- A COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement of the position. One COVID-19 shot is acceptable, contingent on the individual receiving the second shot within the allotted time frame.

- Additionally, outpatient therapists are required to fulfill the requirements to maintain their license, which includes a minimum of 30 CEUs every two years.
