  • Develop and manage development of content for CME/CE activities program(s) across a range of therapeutic specialties or Oncology/Hematology, depending on candidate’s experience and interests
  • Supervise the work of medical writers (freelance and/or staff)
  • Use in-depth therapeutic knowledge to write content where necessary to include components for grants/proposals such as needs assessments
  • Develop publication strategies and work with key opinion leaders on creating innovative meetings and other activities
  • Drive content for activities (CME/CE and non-CME/CE) including print publications, meetings, webinars, symposia, patient cases, etc.
  • Collaborate with project manager(s) and other company staff
  • Identify areas of interest for the development of CME/CE activities, select themes and topics
  • Analyze relevant medical literature and identify faculty and writers
  • Develop and discuss activities with faculty, planning committee members, conveners etc to include conducting/participating in planning meetings/call
  • Contact and communicate with faculty about their roles and responsibilities within each CE activity
  • Attend live meetings to serve as on-site scientific contact providing faculty oversight including slide review and editing as required
  • When necessary, assist faculty with development of introductions, abstracts, slides, interactive questions/case studies, educational outcomes measurement questions, etc.
  • Conduct reviews of CME/CE materials and ensure fairness, balance and objectivity in all presentations
  • Assist in development of comprehensive grant /proposal documents, including needs assessments and practice gap analyses, as well as educational outcomes measurement reports
  • Assist with identification of potential grantors, based on topics, product development and market information


  • Advanced degree is preferred (eg, PhD, MS, RN, MD, PharmD)
  • 4-6+ years’ prior experience in medical writing and/or medical direction ideally for a CME company. HOWEVER, candidates with the following experience will also be considered:
    • Oncology experience, but not necessarily CME experience (relevant experience in CE, promo med ed, med com, or academia will be required)
    • CME content experience, but not in Oncology, who is looking to transition to Oncology
    • Senior medical writer, who has solid content development experience at a medical education company, who is looking to take the next step in their career, to become an Associate Medical Director
    • PhD in academia who is looking to transition to the CME world (solid medical writing experience will be required)
  • Oncology experience a plus
  • Experience managing the work of Medical Writers (staff and/or freelance) a plus
  • Outstanding researching and writing skills
  • Able to translate complex scientific information into practical communications
  • Deep understanding of AMA style
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal in English)
  • Deadline driven, results-oriented, accurate, and analytical
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, with input/guidance from medical affairs team members
